Well, we're gonna jump right in to this blogging world because after all the years of counseling - we've learned a few things we thought y'all might wanna read about.
So... we can't start a blog without our captain (really he's our center's director) steering our boat, okay we're not really in the lake, just near it, Lake Arlington that is, but you get my drift, right? Sorry, bad attempt at puns. What I'm trying to say is we need to start this blogging journey by introducing Dr. Ed Laymance. He's where it all began. First, know he's a strong believer in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He's married to a wonderful woman named LaRue. They have two amazing grown kids (Emily and Taylor) who've married amazing people too (Jarod and CJ) and started the next generation of amazing people. As of today, Dr. Ed and LaRue have two grandsons (Levi and John) with a third one (William) on his way.
Fifteen years or so ago, Dr. Ed felt a call from the Lord to grow his ministry of pastoring and professionally counseling people who were navigating through really tough times. He saw the need had grown so large that it was clear growing his ministry meant opening a counseling center for the community. And so Impact began in 2005, with the purpose of helping people find the way. Find the way to what you ask? Finding the way from dissatisfaction and difficulties to the joy, peace, purpose and fulfillment that God intends for all his people.
2 Corinthians 1:4 teaches us "God comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God."
And so here we are in 2018, doing just that, helping others. We have logged more than 6500 sessions since 2005. Helping people navigate tough times, hard marriages, broken families, through medical conditions, spiritual warfare, depression, abuses and anxiety, to find hope again for a better future. Not all cases we help are successful of course, but by addressing one's physical, mental, emotional and spiritual sides, we hope to help the healing process in a fuller, more comprehensive way.
So come along on our blogging journey. Pop in anytime to see what our latest entry is all about. And if you come to see us in the office, we hope you'll feel comfortable like you're in our home. We've tried to create a warm loving environment, with plenty of coffee to warm you up or water to cool you down (this is Texas after all). Sit with us, share with us, tell us what's on your plate. We promise to have our best listening ears on. We promise that we'll try and help you just as the Lord has helped each of us. And if you don't know all the topics we can help with, spend some time on our Services page, there you'll see we help from the young to the old and every age in between, and we've got a link that shares all kinds of topics we help with. So that's it... that's our beginning. Here at the Lake (Lake Arlington Baptist Church)! We hope to see or hear from you soon!
Praying God blesses each of you today.....
